English Reference Guide

Welcome to the South Plains College Library's guide for English!  Here, you will find information on finding and citing soWilliam Shakespeareurces for your papers.  This guide is intended to make your research easier and more effective.  As always, if you are in need of more assistance, feel free to contact a librarian!

"Finding Resources" will cover the basics of conducting research for articles, books, and websites.  When in doubt about where to look for resources, check that page for research tips!

"Articles" will contain links to the databases that are most likely to be useful for English assignments. You may also find links to the most popular English databases below!

"Books" will allow you to search the Library's catalog, and will also provide links to useful items.

"APA Citation Method" and "MLA Citation Method" will help you to properly format your MLA and APA citations.

Library Books

Print books and DVDs located at the SPC Libraries may be found in the Library's online catalog, found here.

Article Databases

The bar above will search all of our resources at once. If you would like to use an individual database, the following are recommended when searching for English articles.  They have been put in order of relevancy.  In other words, start at the top database and work your way down.  Generally, you should be able to find everything you need for your English assignments within the first few databases!

Click the links below to access them.  You may be prompted for your SPC username and password.  Your username will be your student ID, followed by @southplainscollege.edu.  For example: astudent123@southplainscollege.edu.  Your password will be the same as your MySPC and Blackboard passwords.  If you have any difficulty accessing or searching the databases, please contact the Library.
