South Plains College Chromebooks: Getting Started Guide

A Chromebook is a simple laptop that runs on Google’s Chrome operating system. These computers are

designed to be used while connected to the internet. They should allow you to use Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) to help you complete your coursework, login to blackboard and MySPC and do general internet browsing.

Getting Started

  1. Power on the Chromebook by pressing  the power button on the right side of the Chromebook
  2. Login Page:
    1. Login to your personal gmail/google account or create one within the chromebook
      1. This will give you your bookmarks and gmail readily available
  3. Connect to your wireless network. Chromebooks require wifi to run
    1. When logged into the guest account look for the Wireless symbol in the bottom right of the screen
  4. Start browsing
    1. Accessing Microsoft Office Online and Your Student Email
      1. Navigate to https://office.com and select Sign In
      2. Username: MySPCusername@southplainscollege.edu (please note the @students has been dropped)
      3. Password: Your MySPC/Blackboard password
      4. Select Outlook to check your new SPC email!
